Finishing 2010
December in Montana started with a bang, but was more normal at the end although it was still way ahead of any December I remember. I spent everyday from December 17th through January 1st skiing Discover, I am now up to 26 days on the snow:) I had two more days on a snowboard and one on teles.
I worked every day the last two weeks of 2010, which is how I like it. I did start the new year with a play day. I instructed two girls, Gigi and Whilehmenia, most everyday those two weeks, they were students of mine last year. They are great kids and are going to be good skiers, Gigi tried snowboarding and picked it up quickly- another crossdresser has joined the ski world. If I was not teaching I was patrolling, sometimes both in the same day. I do love what I do.
The ski area itself had a very busy end to 2010. They opened a new chairlift, the Silver Chief, which services new terrain, it is always good to have more skiable acres. They also saw the passing of a fellow ski instructor, James Adie. James was happier and more enthusiastic about skiing and teaching than most anyone. He died doing what he loved, which is all anyone can hope for. RIP James, you will be missed.
I am now back in Austria preparing fo my first ski days here, I will be an instructor for the IAEA ski club. We are going to the Hinterstoder, Wurzeralm area, which is in the state of Upper Austria. I have never been to either of these areas and am looking forward to exploring them.
